APT of Complex Splinel-Forming Oxides - Application note

The Invizo 6000™ Atom Probe Technology (APT) platform offers a large field of view due to its unique electrostatic design, enabling the analyst to observe how multiple features interact with each other and to gain a more in-depth understanding of the overall microstructure. An illustration is the study of CoFeMn oxide, where intricate nano-structures form through complex phase decomposition. Obtaining chemical information using APT to help understand the full picture of structural evolution in three dimensions is key to understand the kinetics of these processes and to improve predictive design of these ceramics.

Specimens were prepared using standard methods, and data acquisition was performed on both LEAP 6000 XR™ and Invizo 6000™.
This work demonstrates the benefits of having very large fields of view in APT data as the relationship between plate-like and chessboard-like nanostructures is now visible due to the increased area collected.
